Three out of Four star rating
If you're lucky enough to have experienced tapas dining in Spain,
you'll know a good tapas bar when you see it.
Bar191 in Raynes
Park is one that aspires to be authentic and pulls it off nicely.
A candle lit setting with rustic table
and chairs; it is easy to feel comfortable here.
There is knowledgeable and attentive staff at hand to advise on
your food selection and offer guidance with the extensive wine
list. We opted for a £12.50 bottle of French Sauvignon Blanc
but there is also a good selection of beers from around the
globe to choose from.
The "Flight of Wine" is a nice touch where you can try a selection
of three wines for only £7.50.
The tapas range in price from a mere £1.50 to only £4.95 or there
is a paella dish option to share for four people.
The King Prawns fro the "Hot Tapas" menu is worth a mention and
the Serrano ham fro the "Cold Tapas" menu comes piled on top of
delicious fresh bread. A selection of two dishes from each menu
was sufficient for me and my companion and left room for us to
choose fro the decadent dessert menu. The homemade ice-cream
is a must try and the cheesecake literally melts in your mouth.
Overall, Bar191 is a relaxing, pleasant place to spend an evening,
whether for dinner or just for drinks and the ample outdoor section
will be perfect setting to wile away endless summer nights - when
they eventually get here.

Excellent, unpretentious and very fresh tapas,
with extensive wine selection and good service.
This is a cut above the average London tapas
bar/restaurant (the majority of which serve pretty mediocre fare).

The atmosphere was relaxed and I found the
tapas tasty. Especially the ribs and prawn dishes. Although you
need to order at least 3 tapas each to fill the gap.
Good to go with friends for a fun night.
The Mobile Food Guide, General Report, Revised January 2008
In a short space of time Bar191 has built a
large and loyal customer base and with its relaxed Mediterranean
ambience and chic art deco design is already pulling the crowds.
At the very heart of Bar191 is the wine club
which is not only there to feature wine tasting and dining events
which are great social occasions, but ensures a focus on interesting,
good quality and good value wines being available at all times, many
by the glass.
For a different wine with every dish, wine and
tapas is a perfect combination. Hot and cold dishes take in the likes
of marinated anchovies in citrus salsa, Carpaccio of tuna and Serrano
ham through to meat balls in tomato sauce or oven baked aubergine
with cheese & tomato; parties of 2 or 4 people can opt for the Paella.

The atmosphere was relaxed. Food dishes were
varies and well prepared. A definite gem in Raynes Park!

If you're looking to experience a true taste
of Spain in South-West London, Bar191 is definatly the place to be.
The lively yet relaxed feel of Bar191 makes it
perfect for both groups of friends and couples, as there's enough
breathing space between tables for privacy if you need it.
The modern Mediterranean décor features low
level atmospheric lighting, sturdy wooden tables and ceramic tiled
floors, while gentle Spanish guitar music creates the perfect ambience.
Prices are affordable, averaging £4.50 a
dish, grab a drink at the bar or take a seat for delicious and
authentic hot and cold tapas.
My companion and I enjoyed a selection of
mouth-watering hot dishes, including Patatas Bravas (spicy potatoes),
grilled king prawns with lemon and chorizo with peppers and onion,
washed down with a chilled glass of white wine, all of which
were delivered promptly to our table.
